Situated on the dunes of the Santa Maria Peninsula in southern Mozambique, Machangulo Beach Lodge overlooks the channel between the mainland and Inhaca Island.  The lodge is nesteld amongst untouched dune forests, with endless white beaches, nearby estuaries and the Indian Ocean creating a rich and varied landscape. 

The intimate accommodation features 8 private luxury chalets.  Each chalet offers a comfortable haven to its guests with en suite facilities, air-conditioning and a private deck for relaxation.  There are 5 chalets that have superb views over the ocean (recommended room choice by Mozambique Voyages) and the remaining 3 chalets are set amongst the pristine dune forest.  All the chalets are connected to the guests areas and beach by walkways and staircases.

Machangulo's main guest area features a large inviting lounge, bar and spacious dining area.  On most clear nights guests normally gather in the Boma area to relax and enjoy the boma fire whilst discussing activities planned for the next day. 

A wide variety of fun filled activities for young and old are available at Machangulo.  Some of the more popular activities include guided offshore and channel fishing, rock and surf fishing, Inhaca Marine Reserve snorkeling or snorkeling on the ledge in front of the lodge, scuba diving, spear fishing, seasonal whale watching (June to November), turtle nesting activities (late spring), kids rock pool exploration and its a birders paradise.

Access:

The closest airport is Maputo International Airport.  From there a road transfer can be arranged to the Maputo Marina.  The Machangulo Beach Lodge boat will meet guests here and transfer them across to the lodge.  The boat transfer is just over an hour depending on tides and weather.  Alternatively guests can fly with CFA from Maputo Airport to Inhaca Island.  From there it is  a relatively short boat ride to Machangulo Beach Lodge.

It is possible to access the Lodge with a 4x4 by travelling through the Maputo Elephant Reserve to Santa Maria (which is a 30 minute walk from the Lodge or quick boat transfer).  However, this is for only the very experienced 4x4 enthusiast that can cope with the deep sand conditions of the Reserve as there are no roads or infrastructure per say.
