The southern part of Mozambique is well known as a diving destination, especially in the area of the small coastal towns of Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane. This part of Mozambique is easily accessed via the South African border post of Kosi Bay, which is a mere 10 km from Ponta do Ouro.

Southern Mozambique is mainly a 4x4 self drive destination as there are no tarred roads in the surrounding area or connecting to Maputo. A variety of water sport activities is available in the area, including scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing and turtle nesting walks to name but a few!
