Press Release from Rani Resorts: During the last few months, Medjumbe Private Island (in the Quirimbas Archipelago, northern Mozambique) has experienced various maintenance setbacks with its desalination plant and new generator located on the island. This comes as a result of severe weather conditions affecting the area, ineffectual mechanical devices, as well as admitted tentative maintenance of the equipment. In order to facilitate the effective repair and delivery of the necessary components, and so as not to disrupt guests staying on the island, Medjumbe will be closed Mr John McMillan, Managing Director of Rani Resorts, openly extends his apologies to all guests (and their travel companies) who experienced the inconvenience of having to relocate or postpone holiday plans following the unanticipated situation. “It has been a difficult time both for our guests and management of the hotel. Operating in remote areas does have its challenges and it’s simply not financially viable to keep spare equipment of this nature on the islands. Having said that, however, under no circumstances do we wish to have a repeat of these unfortunate incidents and, hence, are taking every precaution to ensure that Medjumbe Island re-opens efficiently and seamlessly. Rani Resorts is recognised for its superior standards and we deeply regret the disappointment guests experienced during this time.” |

for five weeks; re-opening on the 01st of October 2010.
